Some of the best athletes in all of Virginia not only come out of the sport of basketball, but hail from across the Timesland area.
From a dynamic duo in 166su to electrifying ballers in the farthest reaches of the western part of the state and high-flying scorers everywhere in between, local student-athletes showcased their skills on the hardwood this season to the attention of a statewide audience.
Presented here is The 166su Times 2025 All-Timesland Boys Basketball Team, highlighting the student-athletes who exceled on the court this winter.
Coach of the Year: Anthony Barnes, Carroll County
There's a reason the Cavaliers dubbed this season "The Last Dance." A core group of senior players, who had been teammates since their elementary school days, were hoping to make their final season together a memorable one.

It certainly was, and at the forefront of that memorable season was their fifth-year head coach, who found the right recipe to guide Carroll County to its first state tournament berth in 12 years.
Barnes led the Cavaliers to a 23-3 final record. They started the season 15-0, and didn't lose their final two games until the Region 3D championship and Class 3 state quarterfinals. Barnes also helped produce the program's all-time leading scorer in Bryce Smoot, who averaged 19.3 points per game.Â
Player of the Year: Reed Kirtner, George WytheÂ

Not to be outdone by his prolific season overall, the senior forward was simply sensational in the Class 1 state championship. He poured in a game-high 30 points via 10-of-17 shooting and sinking 5-of-10 shots from beyond the arc to lead the Maroons to the title.
Kirtner scored 20.2 points per game this season, leading a high-octane George Wythe squad that went 26-4, beating teams like William Fleming and Abingdon, averaged over 73 points per game and ended the season on a 20-game winning streak. He added 1.8 steals and 3.4 rebounds a contest.
For his efforts, Kirtner was named Class 1 Player of the Year, and received Region 1C and Mountain Empire District player of the year honors as well. He capped off his senior season by becoming the Maroons' all-time leading scorer with 1,680 career points.Â
First Team
Mykell Harvey, Northside

The two-time state champion capped off his senior season by averaging 19.7 points per game as part of the Vikings' one-two punch that went 26-2 and reached the Class 3 state semifinals.
Harvey, a North Carolina A&T football commit, also tallied four rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals a contest. He received a first team all-state selection, and was named Region 3D Co-Player of the Year alongside teammate Cy Hardy.
Cy Hardy, Northside

The other half of the Vikings' dynamic duo, the senior guard collected 18.1 points, 5.4 assists, 2.2 steals and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Hardy, a UVA Wise commit and two-time Class 3 Player of the Year, joined Mykell Harvey in earning Region 3D Co-Player of the Year honors and was a first team all-state selection.
Noah Farley, Floyd County

The guard had a prolific sophomore season, earning 15.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game to help lead the Buffaloes to a 20-6 record and the Class 2 state semifinals.
Farley also shot 37% from 3-point range and received a first team all-state selection.
Will Goodwin, Chilhowie

The 6-foot-8 senior forward was effective in the paint, scoring 16.7 points game and pulling down 7.5 rebounds a contest to lead the Warriors to the Class 1 state quarterfinals.
Goodwin added 1.5 blocks and 2.4 assists per game, and shot 50% from the floor. He received a second team all-state selection.
Isaiah Easter, Carroll County

In addition to a 21-point performance in the Class 3 state semifinals that helped the Cavaliers clinch their first state tournament berth since 2013, the junior forward averaged 13.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season.
Easter also shot an efficient 55.1% from the floor and added 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals a contest. He garnered second team all-region honors.
Second Team
Jesiah Hines, North Cross

The sophomore point guard could put up points in a hurry this season. He averaged 22 points per game to lead the Raiders to a 19-8 record and the VISAA Division II state semifinals.
Hines added 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 steals a contest, and earned a first team all-state nod.
Jayden Johnson, 166su Catholic

The junior guard averaged 18.5 points per game to lead the Celtics to a 20-12 record and the VISAA Division III state semifinals.
Johnson shot 57% from the floor, and tallied 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals a contest. He earned a first team all-state selection.
Langston Cook, Parry McCluer

The sophomore guard racked up 24 points and 8.3 rebounds per game to lead the Fighting Blues to a 26-4 record and the Class 1 state quarterfinals.ÌýÌý
Cook added 5.7 assists per game and a 51% shooting efficiency to his offensive prowess, while collecting 2.3 steals and 1.2 blocks on defense. He was named Pioneer District Player of the Year, and received a first team all-state selection.
Cam Boles, Salem

The junior forward averaged 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for a Spartans squad that went 20-5 and won the River Ridge District tournament championship.
Blake Lovern, Lord Botetourt

The small forward capped off his senior season by averaging 15.8 points per game for the Cavaliers.
Lovern also hauled in 4.2 rebounds and two assists a contest. He earned a first team all-region selection.
