Jackson Jones scored six goals and dished out four assists as the Salem boys lacrosse team earned a key Region 4D victory over Jefferson Forest, 14-7, on Tuesday night.
Wade Marble added four goals for the Spartans (1-1), while Jackson Wininger added a goal and two assists and Holden Custer tacked on one goal and one assist. Richard Hof collected 12 saves in net.
The Cavaliers (3-1) picked up their first loss of the season.
Girls Soccer
Blacksburg 2, Lord Botetourt 0
Erin Bishop and Ginny Crawford each scored goals as the Bruins beat the Cavaliers to remain unbeaten.
Anna Dove tallied three saves between the posts to record the shutout for Blacksburg (4-0).
Lord Botetourt fell to 1-2.

Zac McGlothlin hit a home run and finished with three hits and two RBIs for Auburn (7-0). Matthew Altizer drove in two runs on three hits, including a two-run double, and Talan Mower added two RBIs and three hits. Brody Hensel, Josh Givens and Mitchell Hale combined for 13 strikeouts on the mound.Â
Owen Jackson had an RBI double for Fort Chiswell (4-1).
Chilhowie 6, Grayson County 2
Brycen Sturgill went 2-for-3 and scored two runs as the Warriors topped the Blue Devils.
Dawson Tuell, Brandon Miller, Asher Chapman and Blake Robinson all drove in runs for Chilhowie (5-0).
Adam Pennington and Luke Stockner scored runs for Grayson County (4-3).
George Wythe 12, Bland County 7
Trailing by a run, the Maroons rallied for eight runs in the sixth inning to beat the Bears.
Cade Bralley notched three hits for George Wythe (1-1), while Logan Adams and Carson Stanley combined for 16 strikeouts on the mound.
Austin Straight and Dillon Hall led Bland County (1-3) with two hits apiece. Â

Chilhowie 8, Grayson County 2
Madi Preston drove in four runs as the Warriors topped the Blue Devils.
Lexi Williams tallied three hits for Chilhowie (7-0), and Kylee Dancy struck out eight batters in the circle.
Grayson County dropped to 3-2.
George Wythe 17, Bland County 1
Jadelyn Faulkner went 3-for-3 with four RBIs as the Maroons blasted the Bears in Wytheville.
Emma Faulkner went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs for George Wythe (1-2), and Temperence Smith added three of GW's 16 hits.
Katie Smith drove in Taylor Adkins for Bland County (0-4).
