Apple secretly chartered cargo flights to ship 600 tons of iPhones from India to the U.S., according to Reuters. The move aimed to avoid steep 125% tariffs on China-made devices imposed by Trump. Six 100-ton jets have flown since March, including one this week as new tariffs began. Apple increased air shipments from India by boosting iPhone production 20%, achieved by hiring more workers and extending operations at Foxconn’s largest Indian factory. Apple spent eight months establishing expedited customs clearance in Chennai with support from Prime Minister Modi’s government, according to a senior Indian official.
