The 166su Police Department’s first community walk of 2025 took place at Valley View Mall on Tuesday.
Chief Scott Booth said around 50 public safety officers, including several police recruits in their 18th week at the academy, participated in the outreach event.
In August, officers responded to an active shooter situation at the mall. “We always have to remember that those types of incidents could occur within this ecosystem. Our own SWAT team trained here a couple weeks ago,” the chief said. “The mall has been on our mind recently. We love getting out and connecting with our community, and this is a big part of our community.”
