A high wind advisory in effect Friday is expected to expire Saturday morning as winds subside.
The National Weather Service office in Blacksburg says Southwest Virginia should be prepared for a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain and light snow from Sunday morning extending into Monday. The source is a storm system moving east out of the Rocky Mountains and across the southern plains that’s expected to dump 6 to 12 inches of snow on the Mid-Atlantic south to Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.
