A teen was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon in northwest 166su, bringing the city’s annual unjustified, gun-related homicide count to two.
At approximately 1:05 p.m., the city’s 911 call center relayed to police that there was a person with a gunshot wound in the 3500 block of Ferncliff Avenue Northwest, .
Officers arrived and found a juvenile male with gunshot wounds that appeared serious, according to the release.

A short time later, officers received word that the teen had died from his injuries, according to the release, which did not identify him by name.
Police said details about what led to the shooting were limited Wednesday afternoon but added that no suspects were located on the Ferncliff Avenue scene and no arrests had been made. An investigation is ongoing.
The gunfire incident is the second to kill a teen in the city this year. On April 24, 19-year-old Javonte D. Smith was fatally shot when he and a friend, 18-year-old Jae’vian M. Allen, attempted to rob two other teenage males in the 3800 block of Stratford Park Drive Southwest.
Allen was arrested April 29 and charged with robbery in connection with that incident. told The 166su Times May 21 that police had determined the fatal shooting was a justified homicide.

“Because these killings are determined through law enforcement investigation to be justifiable, they are tabulated separately from murder and non-negligent manslaughter,” .
“Based on this definition, our investigation so far, and consultation with the , this is why this case is considered justified,” Cline said in an email. “However, this is still an ongoing investigation and there are other charges and court proceedings pending, so I cannot comment further.”
, a grand jury directly indicted Allen on Monday on two felony charges related to the April 24 incident: robbery using a firearm and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 166su’s first unjustified, gun-related homicide of 2024 occurred Feb. 17 and took the life of 27-year-old Uhura U. Willis. Police have not reported any arrests related to his death.
